About the club

North Oxford Speakers Club has been running since December 1996, and is affiliated to the non-profit Toastmasters International (link to TMI website) which was founded in 1924.

Toastmasters is regarded as the leading organisation dedicated to communication and leadership skill development. As a member, you will gain all the tools, resources and support you need. You can even enter speaking competitions and might end up as World Champion of Public Speaking!

We draw our membership from all ages and backgrounds. We’ve had, as members: small business owners, self-employed professionals, hospitality workers and restaurant owners, executive and life coaches, civil servants, authors, retirees, sales people, financiers, people from high-tech startups, dog walkers, career-break parents, doctors, teachers, scientists, researchers, students and plenty more.

Many members come originally from other parts of the world, and are in Oxford to work or study. Each meeting, members travel in from all over Oxford and beyond.

Every Toastmasters journey begins with a single speech. By regularly giving speeches, receiving feedback, and guiding others to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere, you will improve your public speaking and leadership skills.
